My Total Lack of Filter, and How I Need To Get One Pronto
I told my mentor teacher I would accept the job at her high school. I hope she's pleased.
Funny thing. I was telling her how I knew it would be a good place for me to teach. During my interview they asked me what my long-term goals were, and I replied, "Well, I really wanna be a shepherd." When they looked at me funny, I went on, "No, really, I really like sheep. They hang off cliffs at a 90 degree angle and it's really the coolest thing."
Yeah.
And they offered me the job anyway.
My mentor replies, "Yes, I spoke with L. yesterday about your interview. She said, 'I kind of had an idea that she was, but after the interview I really knew, Hipteacher is really sarcastic isn't she?"
Oops. Sarcasm? I thought I was funny. Or totally serious.

please tell me you know the correct spelling of "shepherd" and won't be fucking up our kids any more than they already are.

You know what, I probably didn't know the correct spelling. So, sorry about those kids. They're in my hands now.

Congrats on the job! I think you'll make a difference there and hopefully, be happy! I'm going to comment on your most recent post, if I can screw up something good to say.

I just discovered your link today and have read off and on all day. I am a tech coordinator at my school; taught math for years before.
I could obsess whether the colon in the previous sentence is correct. Instead in this casual space, I don't really care.
This all is reference to the Shepherd comment above.
I am enjoying your attempts at using these new technologies with your students. I am so happy to see a new generation of teachers who care about their students and who realize that their are many tools in their bag of tricks.
